SCEA Brings HBO Home

For gamers who are avid fans of premium television, a la HBO, then today will be a special day indeed. Beginning today, the PlayStation 3 will be the first gaming console to offer the esteemed network’s premium content.

Starting today, shows such as True Blood, Big Love, Entourage, Eastbound and Down, The Sopranos, Sex and the City, The Wire, Rome, Da Ali G Show, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Flight of the Conchords will be available on the PSN Video Store. More seasons and shows will be added every week. SCEA’s senior vice president of marketing and PlayStation Network, Peter Dille, had this to say on this momentous occasion:

“The HBO library of premium original content is a perfect example of how PS3 has become the most content rich entertainment platform in the living room.

“When you combine the iconic programming from HBO with the existing TV, film, live sports and original programming available on PlayStation Network, our customers have access to the content they want, when they want it, at home or on the go with the PSP.”

Continuing, was the president of HBO Home Entertainment, Henry McGee:

“We’re extremely pleased to offer our premium programming on Sony Computer Entertainment’s PS3 system.

“This premier gaming system will offer an exciting new way for consumers to purchase HBO’s award-winning programming.”

This announcement is certainly exciting for fans of the channel’s highly-addicting content. Not only that, but this brings just another element to the total experience the PlayStation Network is bringing to consumers.
