Team17, the developers behind the popular Worms franchise, released a XBLA hit entitled, “Alien Breed: Evolution” last year. Now the team hopes to give PlayStation gamers the chance to experience the classic shooter with Alien Breed: Impact, a “heavily expanded” edition of its predecessor.
Alien Breed: Impact, which is currently scheduled to be released this summer, is described as an “explosive science fiction arcade-shooter that resurrects a classic and much revered franchise. Named after the space hulk collision that rocks the ship of the game’s hero Conrad, Impact features an epic story, swarms of highly intelligent alien enemies, high-impact weapons, highly detailed and rich environments”. As with PSN title Blacklight: Tango Down, Alien Breed: Impact will utilize the Unreal Engine 3.
A “Prologue” campaign will also be included in the shooter, which takes players through an updated and expanded introduction to the world of Alien Breed, as well as the intriguing aspect of co-operative gameplay.
Studio Head Martyn Brown said:
We’re always very keen to hear what our communities are saying about our titles and greatly consider feedback. For Alien Breed: Impact, it was great that we went back to the design and improved the game in many areas, meaning a much tighter gameplay experience for all.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve been awaiting a more-than-decent co-op game on the PlayStation Network, and it looks like Alien Breed: Impact could end that wait come summer.
