The much rumored PlayStation Plus was revealed at Sony’s E3 press conference. PlayStation Plus is a paid for service adding more quality to Sony’s ever growing PlayStation Network. While PlayStation owners can still continue to have free access to PlayStation Network’s content, PlayStation Plus subscribers will gain access to an exclusive set of features such as betas demos and a lot more. Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has now given his thoughts on the service and states that it will work for Sony.
Speaking during the latest episode of GameTrailers’ ‘The Bonus Round‘ Show, Pachter talked about how any changes to the PlayStation Network from here on out will be exclusive to PlayStation Plus subscribers:
I think that every enhancement to PlayStation Network going forward is going to be for PlayStation Plus so they’re always going to give you basic online gameplay. I think when they start adding tournaments and new types of achievement systems it’s going to be for PlayStation Plus members only and they’ll get a very slow migration over to the $50 a year.
He continues to talk about how many subscribers PlayStation Plus will get overtime:
I think PlayStation Plus will work. You’ll get one million subscribers this year, two million next year, three million the next year and it’ll just slowly build.
