Sucker Punch Eager to Show Appreciation for Naughty Dog’s Help

Following inFamous 2’s impressive E3 showing, the folks over at Sucker Punch Productions were keen to display their affection for one of Sony’s first party studios. Naughty Dog has been on the receiving end of much praise recently, as Sucker Punch reminisced on the help they were given during the last couple of months of development on the first game.

In an interview with NowGamer, Brian Flemming and Chris Zimmerman spoke about how Naughty Dog had provided invaluable feedback in the run-up to the game’s launch.

We got some notes from Naughty Dog when we were three months from releasing inFamous about what frustrated them about the climbing system … It’s great because it’s like getting feedback from somebody you trust and respect and you know has your best interests at heart. They’re not trying to screw you, they’re saying here’s this piece of information that you can’t get from a focus test.

Flemming also commented about how Naughty Dog helped improve their approach to development.

Our visit to Naughty Dog really showed us some things where they just have better approaches to some problems and we’ve been able to fold that stuff into how we’re doing things.

Naughty Dog’s influence has also led to the team at Bellevue setting some lofty targets for themselves with their upcoming sequel.

Hopefully we’ll be able to make as big an improvement between inFamous and inFamous 2 as between Uncharted and Uncharted 2. That’s the goal.

The first gameplay trailer for inFamous 2 made the rounds yesterday and it’s certainly hard to deny that the sequel has many improvements over the original, but whether the jump will be as spectacular as that from Uncharted to Uncharted 2. We’ll have more information on inFamous 2 as it becomes available.
