An official statement released by Sega has confirmed they will be marked absent on the GamesCom 2010 attendance sheet. Their note to the principal, written in obvious adolescent-forged-parental handwriting, is just after the jump.
According to their statement, Sega will not be attending GamesCom as part of “a commercial decision.” The announcement, which Sega sent to a German gaming site, is translated below:
“Despite huge success on the SEGA GamesCom 2009 and the Europe-wide importance of the Cologne exhibition SEGA has decided not to be represented this year with a stand. This decision has no way to do something with the Cologne and does not mean that SEGA will no longer participate in future on the grounds – the non-participation is purely a commercial decision for the year 2010. GamesCom remains for us remains the most important European industry event. “
GamesCom runs from August 18-22, 2010 in Cologne, Germany, and is considered the most important video game trade fair in Europe.
