Ubisoft CEO: No Comment on Assassin’s Creed Final Fate

Recently, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood producer, Jean-Francois Boivin was quoted about the end of Ezio’s story and a possible “break” from the series to rethink the idea and bring something new to the table.  However, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot steered Boivin’s comment into the rumor bin.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Boivin had made some strong comments about the future of the Assassin’s Creed series, saying that the franchise would be taking a “breather:”

“I don’t think there’s going to be an Assassin’s Creed in 2011. I think we’re going to let it breathe a bit and really focus on bringing something new and exciting for the next time around. This [Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood] is the end of Ezio’s story. This is it.”

Apparently, CEO Yves Guillemot did not appreciate the comment and identified it as a rumor coming from the production team:

“The decision is not theirs.  It would not be right to comment right now.”

Guillemot neither confirmed nor denied the comment made by Boivin, so that leaves this rumor still alive.  What if the production team was correct?  Do you think the Assassin’s Creed franchise needs a reboot?  Or should the creed continue it’s lineage of protecting history from the Knights Templar?
