With the Motion Control Revolution about to fall upon us later this year, companies are undoubtedly branching out to reach wider consumer audiences. But Sony wants to make it VERY clear that the Move is more than just a casual glance.
Sony has revealed that during the development of the Move system they had to strike a very delicate balance between simplicity and purpose. Dr. Richard Marks, R&D Manager for SCEA said:
“You want to pick it up and know exactly what to do. There’s a big, simple button under your thumb and nice analogue buttons. So those are for the casual players, but then we had the original PlayStation symbols for the core experiences. It was really important that the design appeal to both. We don’t want it to be a casual controller, that wasn’t the goal.”
Although Sony has several casual games for the Move controller, such as Start the Party and TV SuperStars, they seem to have even more hardcore titles. With games like Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition, Killzone 3, SOCOM 4, R.U.S.E., it’s plain to see that Sony is supporting a wide range of genres and players.
