EA Reveals Fight Night: Champion

Yesterday, EA excited millions of fans when they announced that they would show to the world, today, for the first time,  7 new games they’ve been working on. Instead of waiting until tonight, they decided to let the cat out of the bag early on one of those new titles, and it’s a real heavy-hitter.

That’s right, the newest entry into the long-standing Fight Night series, Champion, is heading for the PS3 and Xbox 360, hitting sometime in 2011. According to the developer EA Vancouver, the game’s single player component is the bread and butter of the title.

“[It will] break the mold of what is expected in a single-player sports game. Players will be introduced to an entirely new way to step between the ropes and experience the drama, emotion, excitement and tragedy of world championship boxing.”

Speaking to IGN, EA Sports’ Brian Hayes said there would be roughly 60 – 65 fighters in the game. Additionally, there is a new game mode, dubbed “Full Spectrum Punch Control”, which will allow for players to land “some of the most devastating punches ever seen in a Fight Night game”.

We here at PlayStation LifeStyle are very much excited for this new title. Time and time again, EA Sports has shown us that their Fight Night franchise is a tour de force when it comes to sports games, and we have all the confidence in the world that EA Sports will once again deliver with Champion.
