Ubisoft: 3D will be in “most of our AAA titles”

With every PlayStation 3 on the market capable of displaying 3D imagery, the time has come for developers to fully embrace the revived technology and implement it within their games. In a recent interview, Ubisoft’s UK managing director teased a future where 3D will be in all of the company’s “AAA titles”.

Speaking with MCV, Rob Cooper, Ubisoft’s UK managing director, asserted Ubisoft’s stance on 3D technology and games. He claims that Ubisoft does not want to leave 3D capable TVs, many of which just released this summer, to be left out of the mix.

“I do believe that Avatar allowed us just a little bit of advantage in terms of experience with how this market will work.

“We are working to offer the possibility of 3D on most of our upcoming triple-A titles, as we’d like to ensure that we are there for those consumers that begin putting new 3D enabled televisions in their homes.”

The mega developer already has enabled Avatar, the game based on the highly-successful movie of the same name, to be 3D ready. Shaun White Skateboarding, which is set to hit retailers in October, will be the company’s next 3D ready game.

With these comments in the back of the mind, it is safe to believe some of Ubisoft’s biggest franchises-Assassin’s Creed, Driver, Ghost Recon,  HAWX, Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell– all will receive the 3D treatment in future iterations.
