July 2010 NPD Results Revealed

The July 2010 NPD sales data has been released. For ill informed readers, the NPD Group is the leading independent video game research firm, that monitors and tracks video game hardware and software sales in North America. Check out the full figures for hardware and software below.

Hardware:

  • 360 – 443.5K
  • DS – 398.4K
  • Wii – 253.9K
  • PS3 – 214.5K
  • PSP – 84K

Software:

  • NCAA Football 2011 (360) – 368K
  • NCAA Football 2011 (PS3) – 298.8K
  • Crackdown 2 – 208.8K
  • Super Mario Galaxy 2 – 193K
  • LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 (DS) – 141.7K
  • Red Dead Redemption (360)
  • LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 (Wii) 1-4
  • Dragon Quest IX
  • New Super Mario Bros. Wii
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (360)

Though this likely had to do with the PS3 being in limited supply and the release of the new, slimmed down Xbox 360, it’s still disheartening to see the Xbox 360 sales double that of the PS3’s for the month.
