PS3 Could Breathe Life into Left 4 Dead

Left 4 Dead has been privy its fair share of rumors, with most of them claiming that a PS3 version is in the pipeline. Despite the near-constant chatter, the end result is usually a denial from Valve and a bunch of disheartened PS3 owners. With the show-stopping E3 announcement of Portal 2 coming to the PS3, it has given gamers new hope for other Valve franchise appearing on the PS3. Now, a recent Tweet from GameTrailers TV host Geoff Keighly is anything to go by, we may see an announcement soon.

Earlier today, while talking about this week’s episode of GTTV, host Geoff Keighly made an interesting comment on Twitter:

“Yes the rumors are true: Big Valve episode of GTTV this week with new stuff on Portal 2 and lots of Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 news.”

Now this is far from a confirmation that Left 4 Dead is coming to the PS3, but it is interesting nonetheless. What really makes it interesting is the fact that he mentions Left 4 Dead 1. Left 4 Dead 1 is all but a dead corpse at this point, so to have new developments on the game is quite odd. Now this could be simply Left 4 Dead 1 characters being offered as DLC for Left 4 Dead 2, but it’s all just speculation at this point.

gamescom is this week, so if it was going to be announced anytime soon, it’d be tomorrow during EA’s press conference. Given EA’s recent cushy relationship with Sony, it wouldn’t be too much surprise that EA wanted to use the PS3 to breathe new life into a now somewhat old pair of zombie games.
