THQ has announced that they will be charging to access the wrestling games’ online mode if the title is purchased second-hand. That’s right… WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2011 will include a redeemable code in the box that will be required to access the online mode, laying the smackdown on gamers looking to save a buck by picking up the game used at GameStop, Ebay, or other retailers in the used-games market.
New copies of the upcoming game will come with a code to enable the online component of the game at no extra cost. However, those who buy the title second-hand they’ll need to pay $9.99 on the PlayStation Network. In addition, to those who actually purchase the game brand-new, publisher THQ has stated that redeeming a code will be treated with a DLC pack for free. The downloadable content includes Chris Masters as a new playable character, as well as new costumes for Rey Mysterio and fellow wrestler Kelly Kelly.
WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2011 is currently scheduled for a release on October 26th in the US and October 29th in Europe. For more information, check out PlayStation LifeStyle’s recent visit to THQ’s WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2011 Community Event.
