Tron: Evolution Joins the Collector’s Edition Party

Fresh off the heels of PlayStation LifeStyle’s Collection of Collector’s Editions, Disney Interactive has just announced it’s own special collector’s edition for Tron: Evolution. The question is, is it worth it?

A prequel to the upcoming movie titled Tron: Legacy, Evolution will be hitting store shelves ten days before the movie comes out on December 17th. The limited Collector’s Edition arrives at a staggering $129.99, but with an incredible replica light cycle model and display case from Sideshow Collectibles. The model lights up and the display case has a drawer to put the game in. Unfortunately, that’s it. No in-game content, no artbook, not even a movie ticket, just a replica and a setback of a whopping $130.

I like collector’s editions, and I’m a Tron fan, but this looks like a travesty. The game itself will have 3D and PlayStation Move support so it will warrant some more attention in the future, but this collector’s edition just seems like a cheap way to make a buck. What do you think? I hear that Disney fans rave over their collector’s items, but what about gamers?

Speaking of collector’s editions, be sure to check out the next episode of PlayStation LifeStyle’s podcast, Cross Game Chat. Word has it that the guys will talk all about the value of these collectibles.
