Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 is releasing next week to every major console (it has just been released for Apple’s iOS devices today). Now, most of us are planning on only buying the game one time on our favorite console. But for those of you who intend to buy the game multiple times, SEGA has some rewards in store for you.
These “rewards”, are not rewards in a traditional sense. First, in order to qualify, starting this Monday you will have to register on the SEGA forums and post screens of the purchased game running on your PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, or iOS device. If you buy the game twice, you get your name posted on a sticky thread in the forums on an MVP list of sorts, which will also be posted to their blog. Buy the game three times, and you’ll receive your name on the aforementioned list, a “digital bucket of fluffy kittens,” an additional special shoutout on the SEGA blog, the Sonic 4 website’s news feed, and “special placement in one very cool spot, to be revealed.”
For the most hardcore of SEGA/Sonic fans who purchase all four versions of the game, you will “receive” everything mentioned above as well as a video of SEGA’s Ken Balough and forum administrator RubyEclipse, where they will personally thank each and everyone who spared their wallet for every iteration of the game. So are these incentives enough for you to buy essentially the same game four times, or is one enough for you? Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 releases in North America and Europe/Australia on October 12th/13th respectively.
