Japanese Lords of Shadows LE Contains Symphony of the Night

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, directed and produced by Hideo Kojima, released in the United States and the United Kingdom only one week ago and the Japanese title is already faring well on the sales charts. Alongside the standard retail release was a premium collector’s edition. Despite the game releasing in its home country of Japan months later, the Japanese collector’s edition comes with it a special treat.

The collector’s edition for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow included an art book, the soundtrack for the game, and of course the special cover art on the box. Japanese buyers of the premium version of the title, however, receive a download voucher for the PSOne classic, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. The downloadable copy, like a standard PSOne classic, is playable on both the PS3 and PSP. While the title, itself, goes for $9.99 on the US PlayStation Store and can considerably add more value to the $79.99 collector’s edition, Japanese gamers are forced to pay an extra premium, totaling ¥9,980, which equates to around $120.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow released in the US on October 5 while the Japanese version releases on December 16, 2010.
