The Agency Aiming for Late 2011

For those of you waiting for Sony’s exclusive MMO shooter, you may have to wait a little longer than expected. The Agency is in development by Sony Online Entertainment, and was originally planned to release sometime in 2010. Now, word has broke that the game will not be ready until at least the second half of 2011.

In a recent interview with Kotaku, John Smedley, President of Sony Online Entertainment, stated that the game “needs a lot of work” and has been delayed. This seems to be a growing trend in the gaming world lately, almost to the point where it should be expected. With a unique light-hearted take on the spy and mercenary world, along with sporting the ability to play it from a first-person or third-person view in a MMO world, The Agency looks like it intends to bring some unique gameplay to the world of shooters when it finally does release.

It’ll be interesting to see new elements being brought to the shooter genre, especially considering how unusual a gun focused MMO is. What do you think? Will The Agency be worth the wait, or will it fail to execute the mission later next year?
