Call of Duty: Black Ops Destroys Records in November

Call of Duty: Black Ops was a monster of a release back when it initially released, generating $650 million worldwide in just five days, smashing sales records in all of entertainment history (not just games). The rest of the month proved to add more money to that massive pile according to the latest NPD software sales for November.

The NPD Group has reported video game software sales for last month, and Black Ops reigned supreme. This title alone sold 8.4 million copies, which ended up accounting for 25% of all video games sold in November. This also pushes Black Ops into the top 10 best-selling video games of all time. It is now 7th overall. It also bolstered overall video game sales for the industry that month, which totaled $1.46 billion, a 4% increase over November 2009 sales. Other notable games in the top 10 chart included Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood at number 2, Madden NFL 11 at number 4, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit at number 7, and Gran Turismo 5, after only six days from release, was right behind at the 8th spot.
