Magic: The Gathering – Tactics gets Summoned on PS3

Ready yourselves Planeswalkers!  Magic The Gathering: Tactics has officially been announced by Sony Online Entertainment to be releasing this winter on PC and early next year on PlayStation 3.

The game is said to feature iconic characters from the immensely popular card game such as Serra Angel, Colossus of Sardia, or Raya Dawnbringer, along with familiar spells, and a new style of tactical game play which utilizes all five types of mana used in the original game.  The best part of it all is that upon release Magic: The Gathering – Tactics will be free to download and play for everyone!

For the first time ever, players will be able to take control of a Planeswalker in a 3D tactics style game set in environments based on the five colors of magic featured in the original card game.  Gamers can progress through a story-driven single player campaign, hop online to do battle in one-on-one face-offs, or participate in 3 different types of online tournaments.  Planeswalkers will be able to build spell books and add new spells and abilities by purchasing digital booster packs. Additional campaign scenarios will also be available for purchase as well.
