Remember that challenge that the Need for Speed team issued which would net players free downloadable content if a certain Hot Pursuit trailer managed to reach one-million views? Well, gamers came close, but ultimately lost the challenge, however that didn’t stop the folks at Criterion from showing the Need for Speed community some love regardless of the outcome.
Yes folks, in true Criterion fashion, the team behind one of the year’s best racing titles has decided to give gamers the gift of free DLC anyway. Per Criterion’s official post:
“Oh, so close! The Need for Speed Hot Pursuit launch trailer didn’t quite make it to one million views, but our community still turned out an amazing performance. We’d like to thank you all for sharing the trailer with your friends and making sure that everybody knows that Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is the best, most intense (and VGA-winning!) racing game of the year. So, as an early holiday gift, we’ve decided to give the three convertibles for free to everyone playing Hot Pursuit. Look for them in an upcoming Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 title update (we’ll be sharing more PC news when it becomes available).
Thank you again, and Happy Holidays from everybody at Electronic Arts, Criterion, and Need for Speed!”
The update (v1.01) is available now and clocks in at 319mb. Contained therein will be three new convertibles for your driving pleasure; the Lamborghini Mercielago LP 650-4 Roadster, Dodge Viper SRT10 Convertible Final Edition, and Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible. Having tested these three rides out already, I can confirm they’re just as sleek as they are fast. Jump on your PlayStation 3 now to snag the update, and while you’re at it be sure to thank Criterion and wish them a very happy holiday!
