Official PlayStation App Coming to Android and iPhone

If you’re like me, then there are two gadgets you just can’t live without. Your PlayStation 3, and your smartphone. “Very soon” the two will collide to bring the PlayStation lifestyle (no, not us) to iPhone and Android phones.

Just announced on the EU PlayStation Blog, an official PlayStation app is coming to iPhone and iPod touch owners with iOS 4 and above, along with Android smartphones packing an OS of 1.6 or higher. When the app releases you’ll be able to do the following:

  • Check out your PlayStation Network trophies and keep up to date with your friends’ games and online status.
  • Discover all the latest games, news and hardware for your PlayStation 3, PSP and PlayStation 2.
  • Read all the announcements on the European PlayStation.Blog.
  • Share your favorite products or news with your friends on Facebook, Twitter or via e-mail.

More unannounced features are planned for this app, so expect more in the future. At the moment, this is only announced for certain countries in Europe, but we can’t imagine that North America wouldn’t get this app as well. We’ve fired off an email to SCEA and will update when we receive a response. In the mean time, keep an eye out for a similar announcement on the US PlayStation Blog.
