Winner: Gran Turismo 5
The Gran Turismo series has not only set the bar for racing simulation since its inception in 1997, it has been the bar. Polyphony Digital once again delivered a fantastic product that improves upon the award-winning formula with improved presentation, more cars, better physics, and more features to create one of the deepest and most involving racing experiences to date. Gran Turismo 5 went beyond the scope of traditional racing titles with weather effects, a day/night cycle, Nascar, dirt, snow, and more. The surplus of content is further enhanced by the remarkable physics engine that mimics the world we live in. The rush of apexing turns, and trying to beat your best laps in some of the most gorgeous road beauties known to man is something that only real-life and the game itself can describe.
Chances are that if you love cars, or even just building a collection, then you’ve been heavily engaged in the “caRPG” experience that Gran Turismo 5 provides since it released on November 24th. Simply put, the racing simulation genre has never seen such a giant, and for that Gran Turismo 5 deserves our Best Racing Game of 2010 award.
