This generation has seen its fair share of new IPs, and among them stands inFAMOUS, a game that sought to mold a new superhero into our minds without the aid of classic comics or full-feature films. Sucker Punch Studios did remarkably well with the title, quickly selling over one-million units, and later confirming a sequel. Although the original did well, Sony plans to make sure that the second time around those who don’t already own the breathtaking original will see what they’ve been missing.
The latest press release for inFAMOUS 2 indicates that Sony will be aiming for the stars with its release:
Sony Computer Entertainment America will support inFAMOUS 2 with a blockbuster multimillion dollar marketing campaign. This will include aggressive national television, print, online and viral advertising campaigns, full promotional support, dedicated point-of-purchase displays and merchandising support, broad-based public relations support, and an immersive and interactive website.
The lifetime sales for inFAMOUS currently sit comfortably just under two million units, and inFAMOUS 2 looks like it’ll make giant steps forward from the original with improvements in just about every conceivable area of the game. Sony’s 2011 is already off to a great start, and with a marketing blitz planned for such a noteworthy title just before summer, this might be a shockingly memorable year for gaming.
