PlayStation 2 Reaches 150 Million Units Sold

Since the PlayStation 2’s launch all the way up until this very day, Sony’s console has maintained to sell millions of units, year after year without much signs of slowing. So it really shouldn’t be a surprise that the Energizer bunny of game consoles has reached a new milestone.

Sony Computer Entertainment has announced the PlayStation 2, since its launch in 2000, has passed the 150 million units sold barrier, based on worldwide figures. Additionally, the company has also unveiled that over 1.52 billion copies of software have been shipped to date. A staggering total of 10,828 games are now available in the console’s extensive line-up.

The most prestigious of those games would arguably be the console’s all-time best seller; Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which has sold over 20 million units thus far. Also, Sony said it anticipates continued demand for the PlayStation 2 in South East Asia, Eastern Europe, South America and the Middle East.
