Catherine to Sex Up North America

Hot-selling and sexually charged, the newest Atlus adventure game Catherine will be seeing a stateside release this summer, surprising basically no one. The game smashed sales expectations in Japan, where it slept its way to the top of the sales charts in its first week of availability. In its first four days of availability, the game’s two console versions combined to top 160,000 units shifted, exceeding initial expectations.

Players of Catherine will control of wide-eyed and somewhat slapstickish Vincent, who has been in a long-term relationship with a girl named…Katherine. That’s not a typo. When Vincent meets and becomes attracted to the other, blonder, more C-favoring Catherine, he begins to have nightmares every night. Most of the gameplay takes place within said nightmares, during which players must quickly solve puzzles by moving boxes and other objcts in order to get Vincent to the high ground, saving him from the collapsing foundations below him. Players will see Vincent go through more and more difficult, dangerous nightmares as well as come to a conclusion on which girl with whom to pursue a relationship. These dreams are also populated by sheep. The game has been described as “weird.”

Look for Catherine to ship in North America on July 26, 2011. Check PlayStation Lifestyle and the game’s official website for updates.
