Gust has detailed some of the supporting cast for its upcoming PS3 RPG Atelier Meruru. Namely, our heroine has some handy servants on hand, as we are introduced to her maid and butler.
Below, the little lady is 14-year-old Kaena. She’s a lifelong friend of Meruru, which kinda makes it odd that she ended up being her maid. Kaena functions as a support type in battle, her key buff being “Song of Happiness,” which gives all party members a temporary level-up. The man in the dark getup is Rufes, who is Meruru’s private tutor as well as secretary and personal manager. He’s all business all the time.
One of the new features in the game is a “kingdom development system”, which Gust says will be a big part of Atelier Meruru. Players will get Development Points which are then used to improve the Arls Kingdom, with goal of its glory matching that of the neighboring Arland, which was the setting of both Atelier Rorona and Atelier Totori.
Meruru herself is really into helping people out, as she can listen to the problems of the villagers, then make this info into a quest by talking to Rufes. This is said to be the best way to earn Development Points.
Atelier Rorona came out for North American PS3s last fall, but its sequel has gone without localization announcement, despite having arrived in Japan almost a year ago. Whether or not Atelier Meruru will see international action after its Japanese release this June is anyone’s guess.
