Depending on where you live, the PlayStation Network should be online right now, or in the near future – unless you live in Japan. However, while most services, such as online gaming and PlayStation Home, are available, the PlayStation Store will remain offline until an unspecified date. With the Store not having been updated since April 19th, Sony have outlined how they plan to catch up with the huge number of delayed PSN releases.
In a FAQ on the PS Blog, Jeff Rubenstein explained:
To catch up on the large amount of material, we’ll be publishing to the PlayStation Store multiple times per week once commerce functionality is restored.
Developers whose titles will be published during this time will have to face unprecedented competition in what is sure to be the most jam-packed release schedule in the Store’s history. When the Store actually returns is unknown, but officials have promised that it will be within the month of May.
