No Lead Platform For Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

It’s no secret that the PlayStation 3 has been on the short end of some unfair treatment from the Call of Duty series. Despite unfathomable sales, expectations, and budgets, we’ve seen the Xbox 360 produce better visuals and receive DLC earlier (Microsoft’s money talks). Now that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is in development, concern has risen that this trend will continue for yet another year. To settle it once and for all, the face of Call of Duty has spoken.

Robert Bowling from Infinity Ward replied with the following in response to a user’s question:

We don’t have lead platforms, we develop each version alongside each other. Xbox 360 is running at same as PS3.

We’ve known for a few years now that Modern Warfare 2 was developed with individual intent on all platforms, but the results were less than stellar. We know the PlayStation 3 is capable of so much more, and a solid release of the world’s most demanded game could provide a wealth of benefits for Sony. A limited edition Call of Duty: Black Ops PS3 bundle was just announced, so Sony isn’t completely off of Call of Duty‘s radar.

The question to you is: after years of Call of Duty being treated as somewhat of a Microsoft exclusive, will the PlayStation 3 finally get its fair due? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
