Kojima Rallies Past Metal Gear Solid Talent for New Title

You’re probably still crying about the news that Hideo Kojima won’t be at this year’s E3, but recent tweets from the game-god might help you dry away your tears – Kojima has begun recording for his new game… with voice actors from previous Metal Gear Solid games.

Tweeting a picture of the voice actors and the recording schedule, Kojima showed several of the actors involved in the next game (titles, names added):

Along with the image of the voice actors he tweeted about how the work reminded him of the past (roughly translated):

Recording was so much fun. The voice-over made me feel nostalgic-ish

The actors shown in the pic are:

  • Akio Ōtsuka – the Japanese voice actor for Solid, Old and Naked Snake, as well as Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops/Plus, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
  • Tomokazu Sugita – Played Kazuhira Miller in Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker
  • Yumi Kikuchi – Voice of Strangelove in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Raging Raven and MGO Soldiers in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
  • Hōchū Ōtsuka – Ramón Gálvez Mena in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

All of the actors have been involved in Metal Gear games, notably Peace Walker, which suggests this recording could be related to the award winning PSP game. Perhaps Peace Walker is joining the PSP Remaster series and will be given additional scenes for the PS3 version, or possibly the game will see a sequel on the NGP/Vita.

What do you think – or what do you hope – he is working on? Let us know in the comments below.
