The game is currently penciled in to release on Oct. 25 of this year, and gamers who bought developer EA Digital Illusions’ first-person shooter Medal of Honor have guaranteed beta testing spots this September.
Battlefield 3 may get a slight boost in audience size this year, with many shooter fans turned off by the prospect of Infinity Ward reserving some features for those willing to pay a monthly subscription fee for rival shooting game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The true impact of all the recent goings-on will be seen when the games are both made available this fall.
