Yakuza: Of the End, Sega’s spin on how the Japanese mafia would deal with a zombie-infested Japan, shipped 400,000 units during its two weeks on sale so far in Japan. The game was released on June 9 following multiple delays due to the devastation that Japan had to endure due to the earthquake.
With the shipments of this latest entry, the series has as a whole has now surpassed the 5 million mark. Started in 2005 with its first game on the PlayStation 2, the series has seen seven games released with four of those being made for the PlayStation 3.
With the series starting to finally see decent sales out West, we can hope to see games like Yakuza: Of the End and future entries reach our shores. Right now, the Yakuza team is hard at work on Sega’s Binary Domain, which is set for release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012.
