Watch New Bioshock Infinite Trailer… For Science

Many gamers can’t wait to get their hands on the next installment of the Bioshock series, Bioshock Infinite. The original Bioshock was heavily influenced by the history of scientific advancement; the plasmids were inspired by the work of Mendel, Watson, and Crick in the field of genetics. For Bioshock Infinite, Irrational Games has drawn inspiration from the work of physicists, such as Einstein and Heisenberg.

Irrational Games posted a new video for Bioshock Infinite on their Youtube channel. In the video, director of Irrational Games, Ken Levine, describes one of the main aspects of the game: “tears”. In Bioshock Infinite, there are tears in time where people and objects from the past and future will be visible to the player. This could be anything from a civil war era horse and buggy, to a poster for Return of the Jedi. One of the main characters of the game, Elizabeth, can interact with these tears and bring objects from the past into the present.

Check out the video below for some examples of how the tears mechanic will work in the game.
