Infinity Ward Says No to Commando BS in Modern Warfare 3

The Call of Duty series has been a juggernaut this generation, but that doesn’t mean it’s perfect. The past few installments have suffered from several exploitable glitches, as well as some balancing issues. One of the most prevalent balancing issues in the previous Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, was the Commando perk. Players who equipped it on smaller maps, such as Favela, were able to run around one-shotting people left and right easily without the use of anything more than a knife. Infinity Ward has rethought the implementation of this perk and has come to a conclusion for the next release.

After the frustrating experiences brought on by Modern Warfare 2‘s Commando Perk, Infinity Ward has decided to entirely remove the ability from their upcoming game, Modern Warfare 3. Robert Bowling, the game’s Creative Strategist, has posted the following in response to a user on Twitter:

Its been balanced, plus Commando is no longer in the game. Beyond that, you’ll have to wait and see.

So long are the days of running around destroying the entire opposing team with Commando, Lightweight, and dual 1887 Shotguns. Although multiplayer balance has always been a difficult thing to achieve no matter the genre, this move shows the development team’s commitment to improving the experience. Now if only those Killstreaks could get some balancing as well…
