We are only a few weeks away from the release of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and, to get us even more excited, the developers have released a behind-the-scenes discussion about one of the most difficult game mechanics to nail down in a video game.
Jean-François Dugas and several other developers for Deus Ex sat down to talk about the stealth aspects of the game. Dugas emphasised that just as much of the game can be played in stealth as in combat, and that a focus of stealth will to let the player feel like they are outsmarting the enemy. Mary DeMarle, narrative game designer, also mentioned that players can eavesdrop on enemies’ conversations to learn information. The developers also talked about the different augmentations available to the player, such as the ability to see enemies through walls and tag enemies’ positions. Of course, there will be silencers available for your weapons and players can even wield a silent but deadly crossbow. Check out the video below and let us know what you think.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution is scheduled to release on August 23th, 25th, and 26th in North America, Australia and Europe respectively, and September 8th in Japan.
