BBC iPlayer Redesign Launches on the PlayStation 3

The latest version of the BBC’s iPlayer is primed and ready to go, boasting a number of substantial improvements, all of which are now available on the PlayStation 3. The software is also designed for internet-based televisions, though owners of such sets can’t access the new version yet, as the update is planned to roll out within the coming months.

The new update will feature all sorts of changes, including a new, sleek interface that sports a refined search system that will allow for easy browsing. Sony’s PlayStation 3 has had the iPlayer software for some time now, while pricing issues have prevented the service from making its way to Xbox 360 owners.

With all of the success the iPlayer has seen, Daniel Danker, the general manager of programmes and on-demand for BBC remains confident in the future of iPlayer and its inevitable integration into living room televisions.

At this rate of growth, in the next few years we could well see over half of iPlayer use directly on the living room TV.
