I Am Alive takes place in Chicago after a massive 10.3 earthquake. The city has been devastated, and authorities have given up on trying to save any of the survivors. Players take control of Adam Collins as he climbs, fights, and scrounges out a survival. A cutscene for the game has leaked that shows off some of the potential story driven elements of the game.
The cutscene looks like it was taken with a cheap, damaged recorder. A man who looks like the main protagonist is talking to another over the radio. The camera pans out to show a little girl that is having trouble breathing due to all the dust. Collins is then instructed to find a supply crate that was dropped by the military after the earthquake. So, it looks like Collins will be working with others to survive, and won’t be completely centered on the live of one man.
