The PixelJunk series has a strong lineup of PSN games available that have been popular among critics and fans. The series is so successful that PixelJunk Monsters is branching out to social media platforms. The next game from Q-Games is PixelJunk: Sidescroller, which, as the name suggests, will be a side scrolling shooter.
Q-Games has released a new trailer for gamescom that shows off a lot of action. Character and enemy designs are very similar to those found in PixelJunk Shooter 1 & 2. Except for the neon touch-up, some of the enemies shown off in the trailer look identical. It also looks like fluid dynamics will be making a return, with water being able to turn lava into stone and so on. Also like PixelJunk Shooter, the game will allow two player co-op. The trailer also shows off some of the weapons, such as machine guns, lasers, and missile bursts. As with other sidescrollers, the player can pick up power-ups to enhance their weapons. Finally, the game shows off one of the boss fights. The boss is huge and the amount of colored balls it throws at you is seizure-inducing. See for yourself in the trailer below:
