As it gets closer to release, Bethesda has been steadily releasing more information on the game, with no shortage of promises to fix the little hangups that have occurred in past titles. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, for example, had a number of quests that could be irreversibly disrupted by seemingly arbitrary actions. Pete Hines swooped in while at gamescom to address this issue by talking up the Radiant Story, which has come up in previous discussions about this game.
One thing a lot of people had been wondering about was killing NPCs — something that was a particularly common cause of quest-disrupting glitches. Hines said on this topic:
[The Radiant Story] also allows us to account for the player doing things in the game that might break a quest normally. You get a quest from a merchant and then you get a quest from the Dark Brotherhood to kill that merchant. We’re able to put other actors into the role of the quest giver so that merchant has a relative or a spouse or something who steps in his role and you can finish the other quest that you got even though you killed the guy.

In other Skyrim news, we posted this update about the races within the game just a few days ago.
The exact extent of the refinements to the Radiant AI and Radiant Story from Oblivion can be seen by one and all when the game releases on November 11th. Will it live up to the hype? As always, let us know what you think below.
