Dishonored Screens Are Dark and Gritty, Website Goes Live

Details for Dishonored first landed in early July. All that was known at the time was that the game follows a former bodyguard named Corvo who was falsely accused of murder. The announcement received a lot of press because the game is being worked on by Harvey Smith, who is best known for his work with the Deus Ex franchise and Thief: Deadly Shadows; and Raf Colantonio, who worked on Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. A lot of information has been released over the past few months, but today Arkane Studios released some new screens that are sure to raise more questions than answers.

It is clear from the screens that Dishonored will be a grimy and visceral game, with one of the screens showing a large group of rats gathered near a spotlight. It is already known that Corvo will have supernatural powers, so maybe he can control rats like in the the movie Willard. Another screen shows several bodies tied up and bloody around the head. The last screen shows two Victorian style gentlemen standing next to a large, metal vehicle. The game isn’t set to release until about halfway into 2012, so there is plenty of time to clear up these mysteries. In the meantime, you can visit a new website for the game.
