Gladiator Versus Announced for PS3 by Acquire

Acquire has just announced that Gladiator Versus is in development for the PlayStation 3.

The news comes via the latest issue of Famitsu, marking the return of the lesser known series to the console realm. Previous games included Colosseum: Road to Freedom for the PS2 from Koei, and after Acquire gained the rights to the franchise Gladiator Begins was released for the PSP. If you remember Gladiator Begins, it’s likely for the marketing of the game (pictured below – NSFW), rather than the game itself. However, that’s not stopping Goshow from developing Gladiator Versus while apparently maintaining a slightly higher profile than the previous iterations.

As indicated by the name, Gladiator Versus will implement a competitive online mode, pitting three players versus three players in combat. Single player missions will still be included too, but with the intention of only lasting short sessions of five to ten minutes. The game is planned for release later this year, with no mention yet of a European or North American release.
