Mass Effect 3 Will Be Shepard’s Last Mission

The Mass Effect franchise has always given the player choices that affect the story line. Mass Effect 3 is no different, featuring multiple endings, including one that could potentially see mankind wiped out by Reapers. According to BioWare CEO Dr. Ray Muzyka, Commander Shepard’s story arc is set to come to come to a close.

In regards to how Bioware will continue the franchise, Muzyka told PC Gamer:

Mass Effect 3 is simultaneously a couple of different things; a thrilling and epic conclusion to the trilogy as we promised our fans we’d provide for Commander Shepard, but it’s also a brand new beginning. It’s an entry point for new fans and it’s also a brand new beginning.

Mass Effect producer Michael Gamble reinforced Muzka’s statement:

After this, Commander Shepard’s story is complete.

BioWare is a master of their craft, and their games feature some of the most elaborative storytelling in modern RPGs. The Mass Effect universe is vast enough for more stories to be told, but there is little doubt that Commander Shepard will be missed.
