Sega’s over-the-top action game starring a scantily clad female may see a sequel in the near future. So soon in fact, that an announcement for Bayonetta 2 is expected at the Tokyo Game Show later this week.
According to alleged sources speaking to TSSZ, Sega is planning a big announcement regarding Bayonetta “fairly soon”. An animated project is under development at Sega Sammy studio Marza Animation Planet, so whether this new announcement is regarding an actual sequel remains to be seen, as a spinoff of sorts is always a possibility.
It’s also worth noting that in a Twitter post last month by Hideki Kamiya of Platinum Games, a Bayonetta 2 reveal was teased. However, it didn’t take long for his co-worker from Platinum, Atsushi Inaba to call him out, claiming his statements were not true, saying, “There is no such announcement!”
As of right now, we’ll have to treat this news as a rumor, though a Bayonetta sequel announcement at the Tokyo Game Show doesn’t seem all that farfetched.
