Vita Set to Launch on December 17th in Japan

It looks like the PlayStation Vita will be arriving in Japanese retailers this December. A Sony rep has just announced the official release date during Sony’s Tokyo Game Show conference.

Sony has yet to provide gamers with release dates for territories outside of Japan, and considering Tokyo Game Show’s Japanese focus, we likely won’t be getting a firm release date during the show, but we do know that the handheld won’t be out this year in Europe or the United States.

It is comforting however, to have a solid release date for the handheld, even if it’s only for Japan. There’s no doubt that importers have a lot to look forward to this December when the system launches on the 17th, especially considering it is supposed to be region free.
