Ever since fans witnessed the shocking ending of Half-Life 2 Episode 2, there has been a massive outcry for another episode. It’s been a few years since the game’s release and Valve still has yet to say anything about the future of the Half-Life franchise. Fortunately, judging by a bit of code found in the Dota 2 client, Episode 3 may not be all that far off.
For those that aren’t familiar with the franchise, Dota 2 is the followup to a popular PC-based RTS title created by Valve. Apparently, the beta client for the game contains a folder titled “ep3” which was discovered by a fan site known as Lambda Generation.
Interestingly enough, buried within the code is information regarding two weapons: an ice gun and a flamethrower in addition to concrete, liquid, and metal “weaponizers”. While we still don’t know exactly what all this means, and whether or not this is even Half-Life related at all, we figured that anything we can dig up that provides even a glimmer of hope regarding another episode is worth reporting.
