Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition Slated for PSN Next Month

Earlier today, Capcom announced that the (not so) new and (marginally) improved version of 2009’s Resident Evil 5 will launch on the PSN October 4th for the price of $29.99.

The game will come packed with a number of additional goodies, as any game bearing “Gold Edition” in the title should. In addition to the retail game itself, both of the game’s supplemental chapters “Lost In Nightmares” and “Desperate Escape” will be included. Those who shell out the thirty bucks will also receive two costume packs and the Mercenaries Reunion mode, a game type in which you try to rack up as high a score you can by killing enemies within a particular amount of time.

The disc-based version of the game has been out for some time already, making this PSN option feel too little too late, but considering that the PSN has had a slew of Resident Evil games this month as part of the series’ 15th anniversary, PSN users will be able to buy the latest game in the series. The only thing is, if you head over to Amazon right now, you can get the hard copy of the game for around $20, saving you 10 bucks if you were thinking of purchasing it online. It’s a real shame that publishers can’t get digital content out sooner and for a better price..

If you are for some reason opposed to owning discs, the option to download the game directly to your hard drive will be there for you on October 4th.
