Trademark Hints at Official Localized Name for Ni No Kuni

If you’ve been following Level 5’s latest project Ni No Kuni, then you’re probably itching for any news we can scrounge up for you about this title, because frankly, it looks awesome. Fortunately for you, we’ve got a bit of news regarding the official title of the localized version of the game.

If a recent trademark filed by Level-5 is any indication, the western version of their highly anticipated role-playing game will be called “Ni no Kuni Wrath of the White Witch.”

The direct translation of the Japanese PS3 title is “The Queen of Sacred White Ash,” which is quite similar to the US trademark. It is also important to note however, that there is also a DS Ni No Kuni title in the works, though its translated title reads “The Jet-Black Mage,” which doesn’t bear the same semblance to “Wrath of the White Witch” as “The Queen of Sacred White Ash” does.  Though to be fair, all three sound quite a bit foreboding.

The game is set to launch sometime next year in North America.
