Following yesterday’s rumors regarding PS4 development, analyst Colin Sebastian shared his thoughts on the next generation, denying the possibility of console launches in 2013.
In an interview with IndustryGamers, the analyst from RW Baird states that the PS4 will likely launch before the next Xbox console. He goes on to add that the two companies will likely hold off on releasing new hardware until 2014.
I doubt they will be ready for launch in 2013. Between Sony and Microsoft, we expect Sony to be first to market perhaps as early as 2013, but more likely in 2014. There is still a lot of investment for both companies to recoup in the current generation.
Seeing as how Microsoft beat Sony to market with the Xbox 360 some six years ago, it was widely assumed that the next Xbox would be first out of the gate. There’s no doubt that both companies will want to get their hardware out as soon as feasibly possible, so if Sony can manage to beat Microsoft to the punch and get a solid install base, the next Xbox will certainly have its work cut out for it.
