During E3 2011, Sony announced that PS3 version of Battlefield 3 would come with exclusive content on the disc (thanks to Blu-ray’s storage capacity) in form of Battlefield 1943. The downloadable game was to be free to all PS3 owners who purchased a copy of the game new at retail. But after yesterday’s release, eager fans were disappointed to find out that 1943 wasn’t included.
The box of the game (including the inserts) does not mention such extra content. Upon investigation, the game’s twitter account clarified the confusion. As an answer to a user’s question, it stated:
In lieu of 1943 being available on disk for PS3 customers, EA has made all BF3 expansions available early to PS3 customers.
Although the latter part of the response makes PS3 owners excited, EA’s misstep in not informing consumers about its plan on axing Battlefield 1943 was somewhat disappointing. Battlefield 1943 might be a few years old, but for some people who never played the game, it would be a great bonus. Any of you readers feel robbed by this omission?
