With the gaming world still reeling from the GTA V trailer, Rockstar Games has sent out a press release that contains some bold statements as well as some obvious, yet necessary, confirmations.
Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games, said:
Grand Theft Auto V is another radical reinvention of the Grand Theft Auto universe. We are incredibly excited to share our new vision with our fans.
The release also describes the game as a “bold new direction in open-world freedom, storytelling, mission-based gameplay and online multiplayer”, which is the first official mention of multiplayer. The setting of Los Santos and surrounding hills, countryside and beaches has also been confirmed, but has also been described as “the largest and most ambitious game Rockstar yet created.”
Grand Theft Auto V will focus “on the pursuit of the almighty dollar in a re-imagined, present-day Southern California” when it releases sometime in the future, with most analysts predicting a summer 2012 launch.
