New Info on Mass Effect 3 Private Beta Leaked

One of this biggest franchises of the generation, the Mass Effect trilogy will be coming to an end this March. Even though Mass Effect 2 was near-perfect in many gamers’ eyes, some felt it focused too much on combat. Judging by an accidental beta leak, BioWare have introduced a few tricks in Mass Effect 3 that will satisfy anyone’s gaming needs.

A beta for Mass Effect 3, which was supposed to be private, was accidentally leaked on Xbox Live on Friday. It didn’t take long for the mistake to get caught, but luckily for us, a few fortunate fans got their hands on it, and here is what they found out.

There are three different modes you can choose to play:

  • Action mode – The major focus here is on combat, there will be less RPG elements, and replies in conversations will be automatically chosen.
  • Story mode – Less combat, but more choices during conversations.
  • RPG Mode – This is the classic Mass Effect formula. You choose the conversation, and lots of combat.

BioWare’s Jesse Houston quickly replied to the beta leak:

We want to stress that these features are still in the early stages of development and will receive considerable iteration and refinement… These modes are designed to give players an even finer degree of control over their game experience than ever before.

Even though he is stressing this is an early build, it’s still very interesting. What are your thoughts on these modes, and which mode will you choose to play?

Mass Effect 3 hits the PS3 in North America on March 6th, and Europe on March 9th.
