GameStop PS Vita Memory Card Prices Not Official?

Gamers anticipating Sony’s next generation handheld, the PlayStation Vita, were shocked at the alleged prices of the system’s proprietary memory cards put up by video game retailer GameStop. However, a new report suggests that the prices are not official.

Kotaku’s Stephen Totilo reports that he heard from multiple Sony representatives this week that the rumored PS Vita Memory Card prices are not official, that gamers should “stay tuned,” and that the Memory Cards aren’t a hidden cost.

GameStop’s price listings ranged from $29.99 for a 4GB Memory Card (which had been corrected by Sony to be $24.99) and $119.99 for a 32GB Memory Card. The 8GB Memory Card had also been corrected from $49.99 to $39.99. The fact that Sony corrected the price shows that they were aware of the publicly revealed cost, and they even had a hand in controlling them – perhaps public outcry at the cost forced them to reconsider?

Whatever the case may be, gamers should still wait for an official announcement from Sony about the pricing of the memory cards.

PSLS will keep you posted on any further news about the PlayStation Vita, the console’s accessories, and its games.
